Watch a Kyomai Maiko Dance in Kyoto by Apprentice Geisha

Overview

The program isn't long but exciting and will bring Maiko closer to you than ever before. You can enjoy Maiko's dance, playing a game, and taking a photo with her. Tea ceremony is not included.

Important Information

・Operation hours are from 10:00 to 17:00. Reservations received after 17:00 will be processed next day.

・There is no elevator in our building and you will need to take stairs to reach each venue.

・Doors open 5 minutes before the scheduled time, but this may change depending on the situation.

・Those who do not participate in the experience will not be allowed to enter.

・We will not be able to hold the event to accommodate delays.

・ If you are late, your reservation may be canceled.

・Regardless of the reason, we charge a cancellation fee. Please check the cancellation policy for details.

・If you change the reservation date and time after a cancellation fee has been incurred, a specified fee will be charged.

・Please note that confirmed reservations may have to be cancelled in case of exceptional circumstance at the "hanamachi" leisure district

・Please note that in the event of cancellation, we will not be able to compensate for travel expenses to the venue.

・Bringing in food and drinks are not allowed.

・Please refrain from bringing large luggage.

・We are not responsible for any troubles between customers.

・ Minimum number of participants for the performance to be held: 10

・Depending on the date of the experience, the performer may be a maiko or geisha/geiko.

・Ages 2+ are charged the regular fee.

・Ages 0–1 are free of charge but no seats are provided.

About English-language support

・The service is basically provided in Japanese

・Guaranteed English interpreting is available for 5,500 JPY per group; If you do not apply this, English translation will be provided as much as possible. If you apply at the last minute, we may not be able to guarantee English translation.

About private charter bookings

・1–24 people: 105,600 JPY (the 24-person rate)

・25–40 people: 176,000 JPY (the 40-person rate)

・For a party of more than 40 people, 4,400 JPY per person is required for each additional person

This short 30–40 minute program offers a rare and memorable experience:

・Enjoy two elegant Maiko dance performances

Maiko dances are graceful and expressive, portraying scenes from Japan’s seasons, love stories, and everyday life through music. Be sure to capture this beautiful moment with your camera.

・Discover a traditional game played between Maiko and guests

you’ll see a simple yet exciting traditional game. Volunteers from the audience are invited to play with the Maiko, but even watching is fun! Clap and cheer along—it creates a shared sense of joy and connection with fellow guests.

・Take photos right beside a Maiko

you’ll have the chance to take a commemorative photo with a Maiko . As a special gift, you’ll receive a small lucky charm called a Senjyafuda—a keepsake to remember your Kyoto journey.

Please note that the venue is not an "ochaya" or a traditional Japanese house. It is located in a building, but the place offers a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. No special preparation is required, and you are welcome to join without any concerns.

Depending on the situation, we may invite Geiko instead of Maiko.
