Activitty cancellation: Roads and trails may be closed due to bear sightings, heavy snowfall, storms, etc. If we know in advance that a closure is imminent, we will contact you by mobile phone and offer you the option of cancellation (refund), an alternative course, or a different date and time, if you prefer. If a closure occurs after you have met at the location, we will offer you an alternative course (at the same price) that is possible with the remaining time. We cannot compensate for travel expenses or other costs in the event of cancellation. Thank you for your understanding.

Precautions: This tour is for people between the ages of 7 and 69. It takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to walk approximately 3 km of mountain trails, including stone stairs. There is a time limit, so walking at an especially slow pace is not possible. This is a steep course that is not suitable for those who cannot climb stairs or who require walking sticks. If anyone is unable to complete the tour within the allotted time, the tour will be canceled and rescue will be called for for safety reasons. All participants, including healthy participants, are required to leave the tour together. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Food is not permitted. Water is permitted. Please be aware of this if you need to control your blood sugar levels. There are no restrooms along the way. Portable toilets and disposable diapers are acceptable. Those over 70 years of age who are particularly fit, such as those who have been athletes since their youth, may be able to participate. Please inquire if this is the case.

What to Bring

Clothing/Belongings: Please come with shoes and clothes suitable for outdoor activities. In the case of rain it is recommended rain suit than the umbrella.

Rental goods: If you let us know your size by the day before, we can lend you rain boots for free in sizes 14 to 28 cm.

Description

This trekking tour covers all of the Shiretoko Five Lakes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a special protected area of Shiretoko National Park, including the elevated boardwalk. This is the first groundbreaking forest adventure experience in Japan, where licensed guides guide you through areas where brown bears live. You can observe not only the lakes, but also the seasonal changes in nature, such as Ezo deer, Ezo red foxes, wild birds, alpine plants, and autumn leaves. Since the animals are not fed, all the creatures you encounter are real wild animals. Roads and trails may be closed due to brown bears, snowfall, storms, etc. If we know of a closure in advance, we will contact you by mobile device and offer you cancellation (free of charge) or alternative courses (same price), or alternative dates and times, if you wish. If the course is closed after meeting at the site, we will offer you alternative courses (same price) that are available for the remaining time. We may be able to accommodate times that are not listed in the selection column, so please contact us.
