Description

Osamu Tezuka, the creative mind behind iconic works like Phoenix, Princess Knight, Astro Boy, and Black Jack, left an indelible mark on the world of manga. His philosophies, subtly woven into his stories, continue to captivate fans both in Japan and internationally, even after his passing.

Located in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, where Tezuka spent nearly 20 years of his life from the age of 5 to 24, the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum offers a deep dive into his universe. You can explore nearly all of his 700 works through books and animated films, all available for your enjoyment.

[Basement 1] In the Animation Workshop, you can bring your own drawings to life by creating animations on screen. The wall displays reveal how Tezuka pioneered the concept of weekly broadcast television animation. The diorama exhibit showcases Takarazuka as it was when Tezuka lived there, along with locations featured in his stories.

[1st Floor/Ground Floor] Enter through the entrance hall, inspired by Princess Knight, one of Tezuka's most beloved works. The display capsules, modeled after the life-support system in Phoenix (Future Chapter), showcase personal items and documents related to Tezuka. You can also watch videos of Tezuka himself on this floor.

[2nd Floor] Learn about Tezuka's life and works, and browse our information and animation search terminals to watch his animated films. The 2nd floor also houses the Museum Shop, where you can purchase exclusive, museum-only merchandise. The rotating special exhibition gallery, which changes three times a year, features works by Tezuka and other creators who were influenced by him.

The museum also displays valuable materials such as Tezuka's early works and concept notebooks from before he became a professional manga artist, as well as animation scripts and original manuscripts. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to Tezuka's world, there's something for everyone to enjoy!
