Please enjoy watching a performance at Korakukan, a theater that is still in operation after a century. Kosaka Town in Akita Prefecture is a town that prospered because of the Kosaka Mine. In 1910, the Meiji era theater "Korakukan" was built as a welfare facility for the employees of the Kosaka Mine. The exterior of the building is Western-style, while the inside is purely Japanese. The most distinctive feature of this theater is its blend of Japanese and Western styles, which is rare for a theater. Staff dressed in black costumes will guide you through the Korakukan facility.
