Precautions: This event will be held in a historical temple which is normally off limits to visitors. Please handle with care. In addition, we will use real Japanese swords which are precious art objects. You must give your written consent to be careful with swords, not to injure yourself or other participants and staff and not to damage swords.​ ​​ ​

Clothing/Belongings: All participants are required to show ID with photo, such as passport, driver's license or residence card. If you do not bring one of them, you may not be able to participate.

Description

Kamakura is a popular tourist destination for Japanese and foreign visitors. It is a place where many Japanese traditions have been preserved along with nature. And it was a birthplace of the Kamakura shogunate known as the samurai regime. We are carrying out a SAMURAI Project to offer a Japanese cultural experience at the Kigen-in temple, usually not open to the public, located in the vicinity of JR Kita-Kamakura Station.

Japanese Kimono (In summer, yukata) with a hakama

Zen meditation

Practice with a wooden sword

Trial with a real sword
