Instructor's Profile

Eva Kestner, taiko drum artist

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Eva is an award winning Japanese Taiko drummer, folk dancer, singer, songwriter, and educator. She started drumming at the age of 8.

Eva co-founded and directed the Taiko drumming group at Cornell University. She received the Excellency Award at Ichikawa New Artists Competition.

In 2023, her original music was published by Harper Collins Publisher and she was also the cover image of their music textbook. In 2024, her original music was used by Cambridge International Curriculum, used in over 160 countries and 10,000 schools, which sets a global standard for education, and is recognized by universities and employers worldwide.

She performs and teaches taiko internationally. She is based in Tokyo, Japan.
